Found this rock randomly among the thousands… immediately screamed at me to be balanced.. as you can see.. it is beautiful… though extremely challenging to balance… no was not an option… so here it is…balanced on the new moon… it has been an emotionally turbulent week.. but things may be settling..

my original thoughts on why the coloration happened this way was incorrect, as I learned the real reason from a geologist friend..:

“Mmm Sandstone, I Love what happens to these iron rich silicated specimens over time.
As your resident geologist, I would love to share some insight.
This Beautiful pattern is caused by leaching. While the quartz in the sandstone is an unwaveringly strong mineral, the iron contained within is quite soluble. To which, after extensive exposure to the elements, the iron seeps to form interesting patterns.” ~KLK
