Garden Chronicles: Day 2

Today I revisited yesterday’s “Inception” as I normally do when gardens begin.. Most of me was expecting many rocks blown over as it had been windier recently… but much to my surprise EVERYTHING remained.  One interesting part of re-visits is the initial mute of a completely dry garden, as if the rocks had been balanced there for centuries… The colors change quite drastically in the dry air… lighter tones, incredible color-washes..

I do not normally recommend leaving gardens like this stand beyond the duration of your presence, however, considering the weather, scarce people traffic, and FREEZING water, I concluded it was safe to leave my garden to evolve for multiple days.. :)

My usual habit is to walk ALL around and through my developing gardens to discover new and interesting perspectives for both design evolution AND photography… This Garden began to grow through a unified perspective on the whole garden.  Of course the inception balance became centerpiece for my chosen perspective.  The centerpiece stayed mostly the same from before, however, I began reworking the surrounding balances to better compliment the space.. here are some of the new additions of the day..  I LOVE the colors in these rocks…!

Here is the garden just before sunset. Day 2. By this point I am in love with the flow of my newest project.. :)  It almost feels like I’m on my way to “the office” each morning visiting and playing around with the rocks.

  2. Beautiful! I am absolutely stoked about this process! I actually experimented with it myself on Friday, creating 2 stone balances in the back yard (which are still standing btw). It was just exactly as you had described – a poetic dance of form and energy, creating an internal shift. And I could definitely *feel* the “click” – the alignment of the stones taking place, as well as within myself. Feeling the stones settling in, finding their place with each other. It’s amazing!

  3. If you ever need any GRAVITY GLUE shirts we’d be happy to design a cool logo for free if you print shirts with us. I would love to hook you up with some bad ass shirts.

  4. Do you really find a way to balance all those rocks? Or are you photoshopping? Lol. I am amazed by these. Thank you for sharing them. I was thinking my little one and i should try, seems as thought it would build a lit of valuable traits, patience, perseverance, imagination, and inner quiet.
